Photoshop compositing

A pair of rollerblades, a camera and Adobe Photoshop make a good combo for practicing product photography as well as photo manipulation.

Below you can see a couple of recent images which I’ve created using (1) Powerslide Swell and (2) VALO BS.1 Light rollerblades.

I love using my skates as a prop.

This is how roughly my set up looked like during the day.

For the first shot I have used continuous lighting mixed with speedlights and for the second image I have only used 1 x speedlight and captured several shots of the product at various lighting positions and then blended all exposures into one image. As I was shooting tethered (camera plugged in straight into the computer) I did basic RAW processing in Lightroom, and then exported high-res PSD file to Photoshop for further editing.

Big shout out to the amazing photographic community at unsplash.com for providing quality backgrounds and special effects. I have downloaded over 60 images, but ended up only using few in my final compositions.

I really enjoyed the whole process. I will definitely come back to this surrealistic world of enormous rollerblades, but I might pick a different product next time.

Stay tuned!
